Salad Bar Arrives at Gonzales Middle School

The Gonzales Middle School received a refrigerated salad bar for use in the school cafeteria from the Grower-Shipper Association Foundation on Friday. The program included a talk by Congressman Sam Farr and a student skit with the boys and girls dressed in vegetable costumes. The salad bar is one of more than 20 to be presented to school cafeterias in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. The Grower-Shipper Association Foundation and The United Fresh Produce Association have a goal of placing more than 350 such salad bars in California by May 2013.

Grower-Shipper Association Foundation is dedicated to providing the public with factual and educational information about the agricultural industry and is devoted to giving back to the community it serves. This nonprofit organization helps support local educational, training, scholarship and leadership programs, community outreach and philanthropic endeavors. In addition to the salad bars, the Foundation’s current projects include “AgKnowledge,” an executive leadership program, and “A Greater Vision,” regular community forums, and programs directed at the economic development of under-served farmers.
